How does Nemak create connections between its experts and developing engineers?

Nemak is known for investing in its talent, for looking after its employees’ personal and professional development. One way they do this is through the Nemak Engineering Academy.

Different areas have always collaborated to assure internal and key abilities development needed by the business. Throughout the years, different programs have been implemented and they’ve sought to renovate them. However, the Engineering Academy is the most concrete effort with this purpose.

This is a 16-month course called Knowledge Journey. It’s absolutely integral and its key is that experts and students collaborate: this experiential process closes with a project that is applied to the operation; trust ties are built; technical knowledge and soft abilities, like collaboration and teamwork, are balanced.

Engineers with at least 3 years in the company may enter this program. They don’t need to be young, either: any person that fits this requirement and has an eagerness to learn is welcome.

The academy is divided into 3 levels: basic (for high potential engineers with at least 3 years in their position), autonomous (for engineers with 3 to 8 years in their position) and specialist (for engineers with more than 8 years in a specialized position). The objective is that the program’s graduates become future generation’s mentors and collaborate as experts.

The key abilities an employee learns in the academy align with the career path they have in the organization. The advantage of focusing on more than one discipline allows them to move in the different fields and complement their experience in the company.
